Lydia: Midwife Kids
For one month of the year, FLW serves coffee at the nursing home in International Falls. They also serve two times a year at the Littlefork Care Center. Each circle takes one week. In November, "Thank Baskets" are delivered to the shut-ins who receive that tape ministry. FLW maintains kitchen supplies, sponsors youth camperships and purchases items for the church as needed.
Funerals
FLW provides food and serves for funerals held at First Lutheran. The funeral committee contacts circle heads and members for food and helping hands.
FLW Meetings (for all women of First Lutheran)

Other proposed events are:

- Annual Bazaar and Luncheon
Quilting
During the months of January, February, March and the first week in April, a group of women quilt in Fellowship Hall, Thursdays and Fridays, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. All women are invited to come and help - no experience needed! The quilts are made for Lutheran World Relief. Each quilt is a one-of-a-kind, with a beauty all its own; made as a gift of home by caring people.
First Lutheran joins about 2000 other Lutheran congregations across the US who make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Our quilters are both men and women who meet in the Fellowship Hall, where we can use the big tables, every Thursday and Friday between New Year's Day and Holy Week. Our meetings provide important opportunities for many who live alone to socialize and add their contributions to a worthwhile cause. We depend on donations of materials from the community and receive funds from our WELCA and from Thrivent . We see this project as a means of stewardship of our earth. While we do use some new fabrics, we also recycle used clothing and bedding. Our quilts are distributed all over the world wherever there are people displaced by war, natural disaster or poverty. Our quilts go to people of every race and religion. The only eligibility requirement is need.
In addition to the winter quilting sessions at the church, we have people who sew or prepare materials at home, winter or summer.
This is our quilters' theme song:
"The Spirit sends us forth to serve;
We go in Jesus' name
To bring glad tidings to the poor,
God's favor to proclaim.
"We go to be the hands of Christ,
To scatter joy like seed
And, all our days, to cherish life,
To do the loving deed.
Then let us go to serve in peace,
The Gospel to proclaim.
God's Spirit has empowered us,
We go in Jesus' name."

Our quilters are an enthusiastic group, who care for each other, and enjoy the fellowship of working together to benefit our brothers and sisters in Christ.
